Participatory Action Research

The World Ethic Forum is anchored in inquiry. As such, we want to track what we learn: where we stumble, and what emerges. This is for our own sake, to mirror our learning, but also for others to follow what we meet along the way and engage with that emerging knowledge.

Guiding us is an intuition that we cannot do meaningful work on the ‘what’ without shifting the ‘how’, or we’re at great risk of reproducing old dysfunctional patterns. Tracking this shift in the ‘how’ is the core focus of our research. What we seek to surface is the subtle dimensions and ingredients of this inquiry through a multiplicity of relational practices that aspire to foster radically shared aliveness.

Through continuous feedback and reflexive engagement, we track the paradigms, worldviews, and narratives – often deeply ingrained – held by the team and Firekeepers, following individual and collective manifestations, as well as their evolution over time. We closely document the process and our experience of it in all its messiness, from individual to interpersonal and group dynamics. Our intention is to find language or other forms of expression for what is typically left implicit in the realm of collective capacities and practices. This includes collective experiences of unravelling shadows, experiencing triggers, staying present with or getting stuck together as we shift away from Business As Usual approaches.

Learnings and takeaways from this atypical process are intended to be shared in a range of formats, from videos and podcasts to books, stories, blog posts and journal articles. It is of importance for us to connect and contribute to discourse. Additionally, by publishing in peer-reviewed journals we ensure the soundness of our approaches and reflections.
